Are you struggling to cope with the new identity of motherhood and the responsibilities that come with it?

Maybe you find yourself constantly worrying, missing your old life or feeling lonely in this new phase of life. You may feel like the responsibility of motherhood is overwhelming and are not sure if you are “doing it right”.

Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:

  • Loss of interest, joy or pleasure

  • Experiencing scary thoughts about your child and taking care of them

  • Unable to control emotions or concentrate on simple tasks

  • Grieving your “old life” or “old self”

PMAD Therapy can help

Up to 20% of women experience symptoms of anxiety, depression or a mood disorder, during and/or after pregnancy. It may feel impossible now, but you can thrive in all aspects of your life again. You can feel connected to yourself in this new season as well as to your baby. You can feel confident in your parenting style without constantly questioning yourself and I can help you get there.

PMAD Therapy helps you:

  • To have a safe space to process the spectrum of emotions that come up with becoming and being a mother

  • Understand how your system is impacted by this change in a curious and compassionate way

  • Let go of burdens that are getting in the way of you reaching your full potential as a parent.

I’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I use a combination of Internal Family Systems, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Therapy to increase self awareness, self love and create necessary change.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a transformative, evidence-based model that helps people heal by accessing and loving their protective and wounded inner parts. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. We also all have a core Self. Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged. It knows how to heal. By helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts, IFS creates inner and outer connectedness (Richard C. Schwartz, 2000). I am currently Level 2 Trained with the IFS Institute.

Attachment-Based Therapy explores how one’s childhood experiences might impact their ability to form meaningful bonds as adults. In attachment-based therapy, therapists work with people who need help rebuilding trust in relationships.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy is an increasingly popular approach aimed at helping clients to increase relaxation while removing negative or stressful judgments. This technique helps to teach clients how to deal with emotional stressors reflectively instead of reflexively (Hofmann et al., 2010).

  • I generally recommend to work together for at least 6 months, but we can assess this more based on your individual needs. I want to meet you wherever you are in your life, and support you accordingly.

  • If you go to the “contact” page you can request a free phone consultation. During this consultation we will briefly review your needs, assess if we are the right fit for each other, answer your questions, and what the next step will be after that.
